Pre-production, Production, Post-Production 01 - From storyboard to sequences - 3D loops & product reveals
The aim on this project was to produce a set of animations to present a product, show where it sat both within its own range but also as part of a larger brand & to visualise the key properties of the product and what its features & benefits were to the consumer.
Visualisations of protection, operating temperature, structure, cost efficiency and stability.
My storyboard mapping out the current script, identifying the key compositions needed to communicate the products features & benefits.
Key storyboard scenes, leading to the final shots.
Based upon a supplied script I created an initial storyboard of key frames showing information that was needed to be conveyed to the viewer.

From that I started with the main properties: I wanted to create animated icons, that also looped, and that can be simply visualised. Text wouldn’t be accompanying the images as they would be dubbed into multiple languages leaving, visually, the icons to speak for themselves.

I approached this using Cinema 4D for a number of reasons. One limitation of the brief was the strict use of a minimal colour palette. All colours used had to be from a pre-defined range so, using the colour cel shaders within Cinema 4D, I was able to create restricted colour limitations solving this problem. They were rendered using alpha channels that were then taken into After Effects and composed.

By also using Cinema 4D I was able to utilise their dynamic and Mograph ability to create sophisticated animations that were built with Formula & Random Effectors.
For the products themselves, I was supplied with object models and supplied artwork which I imported into Cinema 4D, texture mapped, composed, lit and animated.

These were built as a series of layers rendered individually out of Cinema 4D and were composed in After Effects allowing the silhouette reveals at the start, again adhering to the script, allowing the screen time required.
