Product label design
Beer inspires many things, for me I've been inspired to try to create a label design, and realise that in 3D. Creating the 'brand' from scratch I sketched down a few ideas and researched some beers (online of course!) and beer mats.
From there I started to create a few layouts in Illustrator and experimented with typography, composition & colour. I settled on a Red, White & Blue for this first style and then tried to find what worked best when UVW mapped to a cap wireframe sourced from TurboSquid.
Settling on a combination of colour, layout & font that I was happy with I brought in some hand-drawn lines that form the background of the cap, made them into a circular layout in Photoshop where I combined the Illustrator vectors of the fonts & banners. I UVW mapped the design from the exported mesh created in Cinema 4D and then added a bump map, environment map & reflection map to the texture applied to the object in Cinema. An additional rust texture was added onto a Bend Object deformer with Smoothing also added. 3 PBR lights create great reflections on the final images below. Metaballs added to a Cloner Matrix create the additional water droplets.
